She’s played the goody two shoes n’ek for so long but she hasn’t won an award for it. But once she took on the evil role in “Nang Tard,” she instantly got an award! Not only that but she received the Asian Television Award for Best Drama Performance by an Actress too! Pretty N’ek Yui Chiranan is super happy! She is preparing to show her god like acting abilities once again in the lakorn “Porb Pee Fah.” A hit lakorn from Channel 7 where she takes on the role as a brutal ghost, she has to show off abilities to act out many different emotions, the most demanding role she’s ever taken on.

With 2008 coming to an end in a few weeks so let’s talk about the ratings for this year. Yui has 3 lakorns this year, “Nang Tard,” a role that led her to win the Asian TV Awards 2008 for Best Actress, “Satroo Koo Kwan” and lastly, “Pah Loke Bunterng” which is currently on air.
For Nang Tard, the remake lakorn that pulled in many talented actresses such as Pok Piyatida in the role of Khun Ying Yaem, Kob Suvanant as the title character of E-Yen, and May Bunthita as Boonmee. Although ratings weren’t as high as expected for this remake, it did however garner enough to have an overall average rating of 12, estimated around 7,565,000 viewers.
Satroo Koo Kwan didn’t do too poorly either even with new p’ek Ouan Rangsit. Som Thansinee did an amazing job in her role as the nang rai. The best part of the lakorn has to definitely been the two kids that played as Noon Na & Pla Gud. Average rating for this lakorn was a 12, approximated to be around 7,336,000 viewers.
As for Pah Loke Bunterng that is currently airing, it’s going above 10 and seems to be keeping that way. We’ll have to wait next year to see how many viewers this lakorn pulls in.
Overall, it was a great year for Yui. She pulled in 10+ ratings for all her lakorns, nabbed the Best Actress Award and finally finished her studies at Ramkhamheng University. What will 2009 hold for her? We have Porb Pee Fah, another remake to look forward to, and possibly more.

Yui Chiranan really rose to fame after portraying an antagonist role. From a sweet teary eyed nang’ek to a nang rai in the role of “Salee” from the period lakorn Nang Tard. Besides Yui, there were many other big name stars who showed their acting chops in this lakorn. However Yui’s amazing abilities in playing a nang rai for the first time garnered compliments from viewers who poured in their votes until she nabbed the “Best Antagonist Title” from “Siam Dara Star Party Awards.” This award gave her the first she received for playing an outstanding role in the entertainment biz in 7 years. Not only that, but the role of “Salee” allowed Yui to received the award Best Drama Performance by an Actress in the Asian Television Awards 2008 held in Singapore on December 11, 2008. This award is one of the biggest awards of the Asian region. That means that Yui has easily become one of Asia’s Best Actresses.
After they landed this evening (December 12) Yui and Pok Piyatida went straight to Wic Mo-Chit for a press conference and show the award to everyone. How was Yui’s reaction and the atmosphere of the event, let’s go interview this ATA Best Actress.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Yui nabs the Best Drama Performance by an Actress in the Asian Television Awards 2008! Yui beat out her Nang Tard co-star Pok Piyatida, along with other actresses from different countries for this award. Yui wins this award for her outstanding role as Khun Salee, her first time playing an evil role in the lakorn Nang Tard. All her hard work paid off. Hopefully I’ll be able to find pictures because both Yui & Pok attended this event that was held on December 11 in Singapore.
